Match report
The Stingers faced a tough opposition in their second home game - top of the league Frodsham Rangers. Stingers started well however, as Irish Emma (Hunter) put them ahead after 15 minutes. Frodsham drew level but Stingers kept fighting, and Rachael Taylor worked hard on the left wing to deliver to Eve, who converted to make the score 2-1. Unfortunately, the Yellows lost their advantage to an own goal, after communication broke down in the six-yard box. Then Frodsham struck twice again to put them two goals ahead. Just before half-time, Scouse managed to break free and ran at the Frodsham goalie. She looked left, she looked right, but her only option was to take it on herself. With a perfectly placed shot, the ball slid under the keeper and rippled the back of the net. The scores stood at 3-4 at half time.

Two changes were made in the break, Lisa was put in goal and Kate Gardener took the place of Emma as striker. The latter change paid dividends, when Kate drew the scores level with a magnificent chip of the Frodsham keeper. Then began a spell of serious defending from the Stingers, as Frodsham once again put the home side under pressure. With 20 minutes to go, the visitors were awarded a penalty for a handball in the box. This was deftly converted, again putting Frodsham in the lead. Stingers fought back yet again however, and when Kate Gardener was brought down in the box three minutes later the Yellows thought they were on for a penalty. This was not given, but five minutes later Stingers *were* awarded a penalty for a handball. Eve stepped up, with a world of responsibility on her shoulders. She waited, tied her shoelaces, then struck. Bang. Goal. 5-5.
The team were buoyant, after fighting back so hard and with ten minutes
remaining they kept attacking the shell-shocked visitors.

Passing play by Rachael, Kate and Eve culminated in a thrilling goal from Eve, who completed her hat-trick in style and put the game beyond the reach of Frodsham. The game finished 6-5, and Manchester Stingers could hardly believe it.

Match report
After two disappointing games, the Stingers knew that this was a golden
opportunity to earn their first points of the season. Although key players
were still absent through injury, the squad was strong and plentiful. With Jane still unavailable, Joey made her debut in net and several changes were also made in midfield.

The Yellows began strongly, earning an early goal from a free-kick converted by Irish Emma. Rachael Taylor was strong on the wing, and earned herself a goal with a fantastic shot from 25 yards. Kate Gardener was next on the score-sheet and Emma completed the goal frenzy with a cracker just before half-time.

Nerves began to creep in after the break however, and the home side scored
on the break. A second goal came from a disputed free-kick and the game
became more scrappy as the Yellows tried desperately to hold onto their
lead. Substitutions were made but scoring chances came to nothing and
when the Stingers conceded a third goal, all the supporters could do was
hold their breath and hope. Thankfully the final whistle came and
Manchester Stingers were victorious, but the team were certainly hanging
by a thread.

Match report
The most noteable feature of this game was probably the presence of
singer Badly Drawn Boy, who was watching his girlfriend's sister, the prolific Buxton striker who did much of the damage to the Stingers' defence. Buxton were first to score, then Lisa Harvey-Smith quickly equalised from a great pass by Tess. Emma scored a fantastic goal, but the Yellows were largely outplayed and overwhelmed by Buxton, but at least the sandwiches were nice and we all had a few drinks afterwards. Football is a funny old game.

Match report
Stingers travelled to Bolton for their first game of the season with a
large squad and a happy band of supporters with deckchairs and beer in
tow, on what was probably the last hot day of Summer. The team began
extremely confidently and maintained their shape, creating chances
throughout the game. Eve began the scoring with a beautiful free-kick
which floated into the top corner of the net. Within fifteen minutes Jinny
had added to the tally as she blasted the ball beyond the reach of the keeper. In the second half, super sub Tess came on for Lisa and within 10 minutes was on the score-sheet, tapping in from a fantastic Eve cross.

At 3-0 up and only 25 minutes to go, the supporters couldn't believe how well the Stingers were playing. But then it began. In the most spectacular style the Stingers lost all concentration and when the first goal went in, it was followed again, and again, and again. The final score was 4-3 to Bolton, and it has to be said that Stingers have only themselves to blame.
