Match report
With temperatures at minus 5 Stingers travelled to Airbus hoping to secure 3 points just before the Christmas break. With Eve away trading Jodie in at the casinos of Monte Carlo and Maximus away also, we knew after last weeks performance that Airbus can be a threat even though they had 9 players.

The Stingers started really badly and we had no shape at all and couldn't string a pass together. The little american Jackie Ryan was trying to motivate the team but I think our ears were frozen. The ball came to Shelly and all that was needed was a simple pass back which turned out to be a lob of the ball that would have been really ideal in the other direction. Everything then for me happened in slow motion, eventually I decided to kick the ball away but instead kicked it against the post and it then went to an unmarked Airbus player for the tap in. Stingers were 1-0 down going into the second half. After a stiff half time talk the Stingers knew we had to produce some magic.

The second half was a lot better from the Stingers, Airbus scored an own goal, though their keeper was really good. Mickey whacked the ball into the top corner for the second goal and the goals just snowballed after that. Nichola Scooby and Jackie Ryan followed on. Rachel Taylor was player of the match again, well done. Polly, Abi and Vicky all came on with Vicky nearly scoring on her debut.

Overall Stingers need to start more games a lot more focused if we are to
maintain our strong position in the league. Stingers next game is on the
8th Jan so everybody have a nice christmas, that includes Polly and Abi.

Match report
After last weeks match was cancelled due to bad weather the Stingers were
eager for the match against Airbus. With a tight game against Mac town we
didn't want to underestimate Airbus. They only had 10 players but previous
experience has taught us not to focus that. The pitch was very heavy at
Whalley Range.

The game started very slowly with the Stingers making hard work of the game, I think this was due to our lack of match games. Airbus did some good passing and I think with 11 players it may have been different. Jinny who was out for 9 months scored after 25 mins which settled things. 2 further goals by Jackie and Eve helped to settle us further. The referee made some very unusual offside decisions which frustrated us slightly. Eve had a good few shots on goal but we now make allowances for her to miss at least 3 sitters. Jinny scored again after 65 mins and then Eve after 80mins. Airbus worked really hard and only had a couple of shots on target. My performance was admirable considering my belly button was infected. We face Airbus again next weekend and we are missing important players, ( I wonder if Lisa can drag herself away from the stars to help out)?

Jackie Ryan got player of the match AGAIN, which I think needs looking into by the coach or could it be because she scored with her shoulder? Overall a great result considering our lack of games, next weeks game is the last before the Christmas break.
