Match Report
Stingers arrived at GMP with an excellent track record against GMP,
but we
knew they would love nothing more than to beat us. With Jin out due
to an ankle injury that she picked up in 5 a side, Gemma took
Jin's position on the wing. Stingers started really well with chances
against a keeper that wasn't communicating with her defence at all.
GMP had
spurts of possesson and grabbed a goal that could have been prevented
if I
picked my dorothy boots off the floor and my defenders made a challenge.
Stingers played good football but went off at half-time frustrated
with our
lack of concentration, not marking players and no sense of urgency
at all.
Stingers should have gone off at least 3-0 up but for some reason
just
couldn't get the ball in the back of the net. Coach tried to motivate
the
team by making us realise that unless we changed our play and made
it look
like we wanted to beat GMP we would in fact get beat and be disappointed
with the result. GMP got a corner and scored from a player who was
unmarked, Shelly got a goal back for the Stingers with a stunning
free kick
which built our confidence. Unfortunately GMP got another goal from
a
scrambled corner which went through my legs. Helen and Aisha came
on and
gave a good performance. Stingers were very disappointed with the
result
as we were the much better side but on the day it wasn't to be.
